Arabica coffee

• Characteristics:

  • Smooth, sweet and complex flavor, with fruity or floral notes.

  • Lower caffeine content (~1.2-1.5%) than Robusta.

  • Oval grains, grown at high altitudes (600-2000 m).

• Main Exporters: Brazil (world leader), Colombia, Ethiopia, Honduras, Peru.

Robusta coffee

• Characteristics:

  • Strong, bitter and earthy flavor, with twice as much caffeine (~2.2-2.7%) as Arabica.

  • More rounded grains, grown at low altitudes (0-600 m).

  • More resistant to pests and hot climates, making it more economical.

• Main Exporters: Vietnam (world leader), Brazil, Indonesia, Uganda.
